Karl Thomas Jacobs was born on July 19, 1998 in New York, later moving to North Carolina. He graduated from Fort Dorchester High School in 2016 and attended Portland Community College for 2 years studying multimedia. He began his content creation career as a Twitch streamer under GamerBoyKarl and wrote game reviews for GameTZ from 2014–2017. He worked as a salesman at Starlite Gaming in 2016. Karl first joined MrBeast as a camera operator in 2019, appearing on MrBro's channel. After Jake the Viking's departure in 2020, Karl was promoted to on-screen crew member. He dropped out of college 5 weeks before graduation when MrBeast offered him the job. He founded his own YouTube channel on September 11, 2020, going public December 2, 2020. In 2023, he partnered with Misfits Gaming to create Pixel Playground studio.
